Schafewald Sheep Farm

Schafewald Sheep Farm LogoIf you have always dreamed of having your own fiber animals, but don't want all the work? A yarn or roving CSA can be the answer to your dreams. You will also be a part of the Jacob sheep conservation effort.

How it works: When you purchase a share in our CSA you are buying a share in the harvest. Ours is not fruit or vegetables as with a typical CSA, it is roving or yarn.

You will receive a shareholders certificate, monthly farm newsletters with photos & the latest news from around the farm.

Schafewald Sheep Farm

We will have an open farm in the spring when the lambs are old enough for visitors.

After shearing, in March, we will send the wool to the mill where the magic happens. In a few months you will receive your share of the harvest in your choice of roving or yarn. The number of skeins or the pounds of roving will depend on the size of the clip. We limit the number of shareholders so that everyone gets a bountiful supply of wool.

By the numbers: We have priced our CSA share at $175 for 100% natural color Jacob wool. 6 skeins, 250 yards each of 2 ply sport weight. If you choose roving you will receive at least 1 1/2 pounds of beautiful ready to spin wool.

$195 per share for 50/50 Jacob wool & gray mohair in at least the same quantities as above.

Order by e-mail or phone. Payment by check only, payable to Lorraine Perry.

We practice humane animal husbandry & we are " predator friendly". Our animals are never sold for meat. They have pasture 3 months of the year. They eat top quality hay year round. All the animals spend every night in the barn & many days too, during bad weather. We are also a "green " farm as we are off the electric grid & generate our own electricity.

Thank you for your interest.

I look forward to sharing my love of sheep & fiber with you soon.
